Self love. A true appreciation for your own worth and value. A love that grows when you practice actions that support your own physical, psychological, and spiritual growth.
Having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness, taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others or while you wait and hope for another to love you in the same way.
Making boundaries and establishing clear expectations about how others should treat you. Getting comfortable with the idea of romancing yourself.
When I was in high school I was given a poem by a teacher. The poem is titled, “Comes The Dawn.” One of the lines toward the end of the poem always stuck with me as a constant reminder of loving yourself above all else… “plant your own garden and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.”
On this day of love and every day, my wish for you is that you find and nurture the greatest love of all… the love you show yourself. You are worthy. You are loved.
